Community Service Projects

The Police Explorers are involved in many community service projects. In the past members of the post have assisted the following groups with their projects:

  • CFT Summer Sports in Clermont (Triathlon Races)
  • City of Winter Garden Fourth of July Celebration
  • City of Winter Garden Veterans Day Celebration
  • Elementary and Middle School Programs
  • Friends of Lake Apopka
  • Main Street Winter Garden
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • The Oakland Nature Preserve
  • The Police Department's Annual Toy Drive
  • Various local churches
  • West Oaks Mall
  • West Orange Trail
  • Winter Garden Christmas Parade
  • Winter Garden Elks
  • Winter Garden Rotary Club

Honor Guard

Explorers can also be part of the Winter Garden Police Explorer Honor Guard. The Honor Guard is made of a select group of explorers that perform, depending upon the request or event, which is responsible for the presentation of the Colors at: 

  • Churches
  • Parades
  • Schools
  • Veterans Day Celebrations
  • Other activities and events

Police Ride Along

Explorers ages 16 and older who has been properly trained and have passed the necessary training are allowed to ride with an officer on patrol.Police Explorers are not Law Enforcement Officers and do not have police powers.
